20 purple and gray.

8.13.2012

I finished another quilt this weekend!  If feels good to be crossing projects off my list.  This one came together quickly, I started it two Sundays ago and finished the binding last night while watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.  One week from start to finish!  That's pretty good for me.
It's really scrappy, with lots of purple and gray prints and solids with some black and white prints mixed in.  I used up a ton of strip scraps that I had laying around in this quilt!
I quilted it with gray thread using my wavy quilting technique.
You can really see the quilting on the back!  I love the texture it creates.  It's bound in Heath which also really pops against the backing.
The back is super simple with a few strips of prints used on the front surrounded by Kona Ash.
There's a very similar quilt to this in Sunday Morning Quilts, if you're looking for some instruction on how to make this type of quilt.  I don't have the book yet but I've heard it's great.  I do want to get a copy for some new ideas on how to manage my ever increasing scraps!
This one goes pretty well with my fainting couch, so that's where it will stay for now.  I'll be sending it along to it's new owner very soon.
Hope you're having a great Monday!

  7. I love the way that even though you have cut the strips straight the quilting make them look bendy and the colours are just perfect
