This is only the second time I've sewn a dress, and I am very happy with how it turned out! I wish I had some better photos but I can't find the camera remote so I had to run back and forth before the timer went off to take these :)
The dress is made from some random cotton sateen that I had bought a year or so ago from Joann's. I really like the way it looks, it's a warm gray with a nice sheen to it, and it has a good weight for this dress since it's unlined.
I definitely see more washi dresses (and tunics!) in my future. I highly recommend the pattern!
Very nice. I'm anxiously waiting to get this darling pattern myself. Love the gray!
ReplyDeleteSo Cute!
ReplyDeleteGood fit! Did you alter it at all? It hits the ribs at a good height (they always hit me too high) and the arms don't show gaps. Really awesome.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that's only your second dress to sew. Color me impressed!
I did an FBA on the bodice, and also made the neckline higher and the keyhole less deep. Rae shares tips for adjustments in the pattern that are really helpful!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great!!! Can't wait for the pattern. :)
ReplyDeleteThis look so great on you, and not handmade at all. Not that handmade is bad, just you, know, sometimes you don't want things to look it.
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to see this on someone much closer to my own figure and to know that alterations are accounted for in the pattern. I can't wait for the pattern now.
you look so amazing holly!!! I love the fabric you picked so much. beautiful beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice, Holly!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out amazing, Holly!! I have been looking forward to the pattern coming out, but I will admit I was a little worried about how it would look on a...shall we say...more busty figure. Judging from the fit of yours - just fine! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks comfy too!
ReplyDeleteReally cute, Holly! The fabric does look as if it has a great weight. And your darts look really nice!

ReplyDeleteoh, holly!!! so cute!!! i love it and i love it in this grey!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so great on you. I'd love to know what size you made as I'm looking at the XXL and even my measurements are over that especially on the tummy & hips but I'm assuming that won't be too much of a problem since the dress is fuller down there.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL job Holly!! I love how this turned out!!! You're an awesome tester!!!
ReplyDeletethis looks amazing on you! I've never made a dress before but I think I'd totally try with a pattern as gorgeous as this!
