It's an hourglass quilt made of Briar Rose and some pretty Cotton Couture solids. I used a polka dot linen from my friend Anna for the background fabric and I love how sweet and girly it turned out.
The quilting is simple, just straight lines outlining the shape of each block. I wanted to make sure all the seams were quilted since I was using linen and cotton together. I did prewash the linen as well just in case.
The backing is one of my favorite prints from Briar Rose. I just love those little strawberries!
It's bound in a purple gingham print, which I thought coordinated perfectly. Makes it feel like a little picnic blanket.
It passed the Jackson quilt test, and I gave it to my friend at her baby shower. Can't wait to see her little one wrapped up in it very soon!
You can still find Briar Rose at Pink Castle Fabrics, Stash Fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop, Quilt Sandwich, and Bobbie Lou Fabric.
How adorable! It will look super sweet with a baby on it :)
ReplyDeletethis is so so darling! I love the background fabric you used!!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! Briar Rose is just a wonderful fabric for a baby girl quilt, and I really love the backing fabric.
ReplyDeleteLove the baby quilt, but I noticed the gray quilt on your bed. Did you make that? If so, do you have a blog post about it and is it done like a rag quilt? This would look great in our master bedroom. TIA!
ReplyDeleteI love that you paired it with the grey dot. While the whole line of briar rose is not my favorite all together, I think the grey helps ground the prints a bit. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely. My fave use of Briar Rose yet! That is also my favourite print of the bunch - love those little berries on pink, so sweet.
ReplyDeleteThis is very sweet. I'm sure it will be loved : )
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite Briar Rose Quilts! Love the fabrics you added and a great design too.

ReplyDeleteI love this particular fabric collection. Beautiful project and heirloom.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my "go to" patterns for baby quilts. Always timeless and so many fabrics look great in it. I will have to try the linen, it looks wonderful. I quilt them same way Holly and just love that little pinwheel that gets highlighted at the block intersections!
ReplyDeleteoh I love it Holly!!! such happy colors and love that you used the polka dot linen for it. :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love how you toned it down with the linen and the solids, it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh, this baby quilt is so cute! Love the colours and the polka dot linen. Great job!
