Jackson and I headed outside for a snowy and cold photoshoot today. I am really ready for winter to be over, but this guy just loves the snow.
Back to the quilt. I used a mix of prints from Botanics, Tule, Up Up & Away, and a few others. The sashing is Kona Ash.
The quilt measures 60" square, perfect for snuggling up on the couch.I used some of the excess strips to piece together a backing, along with Spot On by Robert Kaufman in gold.
I machine stitched the dresdens on the already quilted top. I did hand applique the centers though, and then added a little quilting around the edge to really keep them in place.
The center strips are quilted with x's through the center, and straight lines through the sashing.
The quilting makes for a cool effect in the center which I really love.
I used an old Dear Stella Print called Linework (from Gilt Trip) for the binding. The gold stripes look so pretty in person.
I think this is one of my favorite quilts I've ever made!
Jackson agrees :)
oh, i really like this one. i especially love how you made the dresdens look so modern. and that stripy gold dear stella is one of my favorites. i stockpiled a bunch from drygoods before it all went away for good.

Congrats on your finish! Clearly I need some of that gilt stripe. Wow! I love the way you used the dots as a background on the back.
