About Bijou Lovely

Hello there!  Thank you for visiting Bijou Lovely!  I'm Holly DeGroot, and this is where I share my creations, inspiration, and all things lovely.  This blog is primarily focused on sewing and quilting, but I also love to share tutorials and recipes and talk about interior and graphic design, photography, and looks into what goes on in my life when I'm not creating.

My mom taught me to sew when I was in about 3rd grade, but it wasn't until 2008 when I really became interested in learning more about sewing.  Naturally, I started quilting as well after seeing all the gorgeous modern quilts and fabrics that were all over the internet.  Now, hardly a day goes by where I'm not making something!

This blog is named after my great grandmother, Bijou Lillian, who encouraged me to embrace all the lovely things that the world has to offer.  She used to say that if you looked at a flower, really looked at it, that it would be impossible to believe that there was no God in this world.  She was a wonderful artist and inspiration for me to find my own creativity.
