65 Present Perfect Blog Tour & Giveaway.

10.17.2014

Hi there! I'm excited to be a part of the Present Perfect blog tour today. It's a new book written by Betz White and published by Interweave/F+W. The book offers 25 projects, all items that are perfect for gift giving!

I decided to share my Coffee Cash Coin Pouch project, since I had already made one up to test the pattern for Betz. This pouch is so quick and simple to make!
It has a magnetic pouch frame inside, so there's no risk of all your change falling out. It was much easier to insert than I would've expected too, which makes me want to use more of these frames!
I used one of my favorite linen prints from Melody Miller's Ruby Star Shining collection for Kokka, along with some Chicopee, brown wool felt and some vintage lace trim. It was nice to be able to use up some precious scraps for once!
There are lots of cute projects throughout the book! Some I want to keep for myself, like the Sweet Life Pillow! :) I'd love to make a Gentlemen's Travel Case for my husband too!

You can find out more about the book in Betz's Present Perfect trailer! You can purchase a copy in the Interweave store or on Amazon.

I've got an extra copy of the book to give away to one of you today too! Simply leave a comment on this post. I'll choose a winner on Monday (10/20). Make sure to leave an email address so I can contact the winner.

Update: This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to the winner, Lisa Marie!

Make sure to check out all of the other stops on the tour too!

168 Fat Quarter Style Book Tour & Giveaway.

8.20.2014

Hi there!  Welcome to my stop on the Fat Quarter Style Book Tour.  This is a great book from Fat Quarter Shop featuring 12 pretty patterns using fat quarters.
I was asked to make a block from the Primrose Quilt, which was really fun and fast to sew together!
I used fat quarters of three prints from Jeni Baker's Dreamin' Vintage for the block, and I think it turned out pretty cute!  Since I don't really have time at the moment to make a full quilt with this, I think it will become a mini!
The Fat Quarter Shop sent me an extra copy of Fat Quarter Style to give away to one of you!  To enter, simply leave a comment on this post.  Make sure to leave an email address so I can contact you if you win. I will choose a winner on Monday (8/25).  You can also purchase the book here if you'd like!

Update: This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to our winner, Mindy!

248 Giveaway from Fabric Spark: FQ Bundle

7.18.2014

Happy Friday! It has been yet another busy week here, I hope you all had a good one!

Today I'd like to introduce you all to a new sponsor of mine, Fabric Spark! It's a shop based in Canada, and is all about loving fabric and seeing it as inspiration. The owner Daryl is super sweet and buys what she loves, which usually means she wants to make something each time new fabric arrives in the shop!
Fabric Spark has a great selection of fabric, with lots of prints we all know and love, and some really awesome prints that are a little less common.  Here are a few of my favorites that I hadn't seen before!

Fabric Spark is having a summer sale this week, with 25% off any purchase of $50 or more until midnight on Saturday using the code "Summer Sale"!  Make sure you check it out.

I had the opportunity to curate a bundle for the Fabric Spark shop recently, which was fun!  You can find it here.  I love those Dreamin' Vintage prints mixed in with some really graphic blenders!  Today Daryl is offering the chance for one of you to win this exact bundle!
To enter, simply comment on this post.  As usual, followers get an extra entry by leaving an additional comment.  If you follow Fabric Spark on any social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) you can also get another extra entry.  Please make sure to leave an email address so I can contact you!  I'll choose a winner on Monday, 7/21.

Update: This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to our winner, Ronnie!

Thanks so much to Fabric Spark for sponsoring my blog, and to all of you for supporting my sponsors!  Hope you have a great weekend!

280 Giveaway from Stash Fabrics!

6.20.2014

Hello!  It has been a little while since I've posted here, lots of sewing going on and no time to post!  I'll have some fun things to share with you next week.  Today I have an awesome giveaway from one of my sponsors, Stash Fabrics!

Stash Fabrics is an online fabric shop with an amazing selection, and a shiny new website!  The shop just recently moved from Etsy to it's own site:  www.stashfabrics.com!  The new site has some really useful features when it comes to fabric shopping.  My favorite is the New Arrivals page.  I love being able to visit an online fabric shop and see what's new immediately, as that is usually how I shop for fabric!  You can also shop by collections, designers, manufacturers, etc. and you can even shop by color, which is a great way to stock up on colors your short on, or to choose a bundle of fabrics to use in a quilt if you already have a color scheme in mind.

There's also a Design Wall feature, which is a really fun way to put together fabric bundles!  I put this one together today and want to sew something with it immediately! :)
There's a sale going on at Stash Fabrics right now where you can save 15% off clearance fabrics with the code "CLEAR 15".  Bella Solids are also on sale for 20% during the month of June.  There are tons of fabrics available for preorder that are releasing in July, including Cotton + Steel, Brambleberry Ridge and Far Far Away!  Shipping is always free on orders over $50 too.  So head over there to check it all out!

Beth from Stash Fabrics is giving away a $30 gift certificate to one of you today!  To enter, simply comment on this post.  Tell me your favorite way to shop for fabric, what you're working on right now, or what your plans are for the weekend.  Followers get an extra entry by leaving an additional comment.  Please make sure to leave a way for me to contact you if you win!  I'll choose on winner on Monday, 6/23.

Update: This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to our winner, Paula!

Thanks to Stash Fabrics for the great giveaway and congrats on the new site!

25 Log Cabin Quilting.

5.06.2014

Creativebug has been putting out some amazing month-long classes lately!  I enjoyed Lisa Congdon's Line Drawing class so much, I'm still practicing.  Last month's class was Pattern Drafting with Cal Patch, and while I haven't made it through all the classes yet, I did take the first one and learned so much!  This month's class is going to be great too!  It's Log Cabin Quilting with Susan Beal, a subject I'm betting most of you are interested in. :)  I met Susan last year at QuiltCon, and she is so talented, sweet, and easy to talk to.  We had a lot of fun chatting during our block printing class with Lotta!
Susan let me stitch up the Week 1 project for her Log Cabin Quilting class early, since I'll be traveling a bunch during the next few weeks!  I made a block for her first project, the log cabin pillow, and I am definitely looking forward to getting home to finish it!  The sewing here was super simple, and I think it took me longer to decide on what fabrics to use than it did to sew it all together! :)

Turns out Lotta's Mormor collection plays pretty well with Leah Duncan's Meadow!  These are not really my usual colors but I really like them together.

Log Cabin Quilting starts today, May 6th, and a new class is released each week for four weeks!  Make sure to check out the trailer for Log Cabin Quilting here, read more about the class on Susan's blog here, and I really recommend subscribing to Creativebug and taking the class!  These are affiliate links, but this is truly my honest opinion (and I pay for my own monthly subscription!).  I have taken several classes and have never been disappointed, they are really all great!

Creativebug is giving away a 3 month subscription to one of my readers!  Simply leave a comment on this post, telling me your favorite Creativebug class you've taken, or if you've never taken one, what types of classes you'd like to see!  I will choose a winner on Friday, May 9th.

Update:  This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to our winner, Ang-e!

120 Shimmer Blog Hop & Giveaway.

4.17.2014

Welcome to my stop on Jennifer Sampou's Shimmer Blog Hop!

I was really excited when Jennifer asked me to participate.  I love metallic everything, and am thrilled that metallic fabrics are becoming more popular!  Shimmer is Jennifer's latest fabric collection for Robert Kaufman, and all the prints have the prettiest metallic sheen to them!  The colors are really sophisticated too, so I thought they'd be perfect to make some fancy clutches with!
I picked out a few of my favorite prints from the collection and started working on a new clutch pattern, which I am calling the Luxe Clutch!  I wanted to incorporate some asymmetrical shapes to make it a little more interesting, so I experimented with inserting the zippers at several different angles.
I used a gold metallic vinyl on one side of two of the clutches, which really brings out the metallics in the Shimmer fabrics!

Using two different fabrics also makes them reversible, which is pretty fun!
The linings are all Shimmer prints too, and while they are hard to photograph they are really pretty in person!

I am in the process of writing up a Luxe Clutch pattern, which will hopefully be available soon!  I plan to sew up a few more clutches to perfect the shapes, they are fun to make and pretty quick too!
Robert Kaufman is giving away a charm pack of Shimmer today, in case you want to make something with it too!  To enter, simply leave a comment on this post.  I'll choose a winner on Sunday, 4/20.  Please make sure to leave an email address so I can contact you!

Update: This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to our winner, Tyler!
The blog hop is almost over, but make sure to check out Jennifer's blog tomorrow for the last stop and check out what beautiful projects everyone else has already made on the tour!  Check out the Shimmer Look Book too for even more inspiration!
