6 New Items in the Shop!

3.21.2014

I'm really excited to share a little project I've been working on lately!  I've decided to make a few new items for my shop.  I've been on the hunt for a pretty knitting gauge and thread organizer.  I wanted something modern and also something that would look pretty in photos if I'm using it with my projects.  Call me superficial but beautiful things are important to me! :)  Anyway, I have a few different items in the works, but the first ones just came back and I am in love!

First up, a pretty little knitting gauge!
The knitting gauge is engraved with "i heart knitting" and a little heart.  It has needle sizes 0-17, along with a ruler to check gauge on your swatches.

Next, a thread organizer and needle minder to keep track of all your embroidery floss and needle during your stitching projects!
Great for cross stitch, embroidery, hand quilting, etc.  Engraved with "i heart stitching" and the same cute heart design.  There are 27 holes to keep your floss colors organized, and a little magnet to keep your needle in place when you're not using it.
Both designs are laser cut and engraved into 1/8" thick walnut.  I think I'll be hand waxing them too to give them a bit of shine.
They are available for pre-order in my shop now!  $14 each, or get both for $25!  They will ship by the end of April at the latest.  I only have US shipping options listed at the moment, but if you're international please send me a message and I will give you a shipping quote!

I've been working on a hand quilting project the last few weeks, quilting around each of the stars in my Lone Starburst quilt!
The idea to hand quilt this project has been in the back of my mind for awhile, and after the hand quilting class I took from AMH at QuiltCon, I knew it was meant to be.  I've been stitching up a star or two every time I sit on the couch to watch tv.
This is the perfect project to practice on!  I am getting much faster compared to when I started, and my stitches are getting much more even as I go.
They are starting to look pretty good from the back side too!
I've only got two and a half stars left to go, and then I can finally bind and donate this do.Good Stitches quilt!

11 kawaii winter wonderland.

11.02.2012

Have you seen the latest pattern from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery?  The last thing I need is another hobby, but I just couldn't resist this cute Kawaii Winter Wonderland cross stitch pattern!  It's a mystery sampler, so each week you get an email from Amanda and Ashleigh that unveils the next 5 little squares of cuteness.  There are 25 total, so it's perfect for a Christmas Advent calendar!
I finished up my first square today after spending hours on it last night.  I'm so slow!  But it's turning out really cute!  You can't really see the white number "1" on the fabric I picked (I am clueless about cross stitching and randomly picked up this piece of aida cloth awhile back) but I still like it.  I might add a light gray to highlight the number at some point, but I'll wait to see how the next few turn out first.
If you're interested in this pattern, it's on sale for $10 until November 10th!  You can also find Cosmo floss kits for the pattern at The Workroom.

I'm looking forward to spending some quality time on the couch this weekend stitching up the next square! :)  I'll be sharing more progress shots of this over on Instagram I'm sure, using the hashtag #kawaiiwintersampler.  I'd love to see your progress if you're stitching too!  Hope you all have a nice weekend!

With all the driving we've been doing lately, I've been making some progress on my Daisychain ABCs sampler from Posie Gets Cozy.  This project sat untouched in it's little pouch for quite a long time, but I've been enjoying working on it on long car rides!
I skipped the G and parts of some of the other letters because I cannot find my skein of black wool for the life of me.  I just need to buy another but I've been procrastinating.

The D and E were really fun and easy, I like the simplistic look of them.
I got carried away on the F and filled in the entire bottom section rather than just the right half, but I'm fine with the way it looks so it's staying.
The H and I are some of my favorites.  The J was not so fun with all those curvy stem stitches!
Now I'm onto the K...

Also, a little off topic, but I'm loving this advice from Emily Henderson on styling your mantel.  Watch and learn :)
